Please Note- a higher quality version is now online, which you can see here. Be sure to click the 'HQ' button to enjoy a substantially higher resolution version, as was originally intended- www.youtube.com Here are the beautiful Flowers and Views of Mt Fuji, with a traditionally soothing Japanese 'koto' music soundtrack. The actual pictures were taken in 2001 on a film camera- I had no idea at the time they would end up in this form or even that they'd be on the internet. I want to thank everyone who has expressed an interest in this project. It shows to me just how timeless the beauty of this landscape is. For me it is the 'real Japan'. As time goes by, far from gettiung forgotten, the spread of leisure culture has made this more widely appreciated and I am proud to be a part of it in this way. The song is "Itsuki No Komoriuta", from a CD compilation I got called "The Koto- Japanese Healing Music", from the 100 yen store- I'll only be here 'til Bon; if Bon comes early, I'll go home early. I'm just a beggar; these are goodly folk, with nice obi waist-sashes and nice kimono. If I should die, bury me by the roadside; offerings or water will come from the heavens. If I should die, who would cry for me? Only the locusts in those pine mountains. Yoroshiku! Starfires.

This is a clip from The Zen Mind documentary, filmed in Japan. It serves as a nice overview of zen - a topic very few people can fully understand. EmptyMind Films. emptymindfilms.com
This is real zen. It is a journey across Japan from the small zen centers of Tokyo to the enormous zen monasteries of remote mountains. It is a look inot the very private world of the zen mind - the mind searching for enlightenment. The superb Shakuhachi flute is by Christopher Yohmei.

The music is acompanied by inspirational quotes, many of which are Japanese proverbs. SONG TITLE: Japanese Meditation Music - Zen Garden - Kokin Gumi - Daylight ENDING SONG: (I have been asked so many times, so I will place it here and discontinue responding to several e-mails I receive weekly) Yanni- Flight of the Nightengale
Just a bit of traditional Japanese music. (Don't remember where I found it, but it had the name "Edo Lullaby," so this is what I used.) I wanted to be able to put the song on a profile without using a video, so I just put the picture up there. The picture is Captain Sagara from Rurouni Kenshin. The atmosphere of the picture fits that of the song. This is mainly for my personal use (this is why the commments have been turned off, I'm not looking for feedback.)

The shakuhachi is an end-blown bamboo flute varying from 1.3 to over 3 feet in length. It came into Japan from China at the end of the 7th century. From this period until as late as the 12th century it was used in gagaku (court music). Little is known of the music that was played on the shakuhachi at this time, although there are some flutes from this period preserved at Shoso-In in Nara, Japan. These flutes have 6 finger holes, and were made from thin walled bamboo. During the period between the 12th and 16th centuries, the shakuhachi ...

Hello
The first in a set of videos I'm putting together for relaxtion meditation and stress relief. Beautiful music from Llewellyn and a collection of beautiful pictures all combine to give a relaxing ambience. Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. Sit back and relax.
